How It Works

People who are registered with the Friendly Phone Service will receive a telephone call every day, seven days a week from a Sunshine Club volunteer within minutes of their schedule time between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

The volunteer will expect an answer unless the person has reported prior that they would be away or not available at that time.

If there is no answer after three attempts of calling back, the volunteer will phone the coordinator who will get in touch with the contact people listed on the application form to see if they know why the person is not answering the phone.

After that, if there is no luck contacting the person, the coordinator will contact the RCMP who will attend the residence as authorized through the registration form. The RCMP will enter the residence to check of the safety of the individual.
